FIRST AMENDMENT UNDER FIRE: MINNEAPOLIS GOVERNMENT TO SET UP “HATE SPEECH” HOTLINE
A city in Minnesota has just taken a large step in the direction of regulated speech on par with much of Europe. The city of Minneapolis has just set up a hotline for residents to phone in what they perceive to be either “hate crimes” or “hate speech”. This service is being tax-funded through its pre-existing 3-1-1 hotline. In their recently published press release, the city website states that they consider “hate crimes” to be any “harassing behaviors motivated by prejudice”.
This new hotline and “crackdown” is rationalized by the City Council as a direct result of “recent surge of such incidents affecting Muslims and Jews across the country.” What they fail to mention is all the largest “hate crimes” that have gotten media attention have proven to be hoaxes:
-Remember the Texas family whose property was burnt and “n–er lover” was spray-painted on his garage? Well, the husband did that.
-Remember when there was an arsonist burning down black churches before spray-painting “Vote Trump!” on them? Well, that was a black guy.
-Remember when Linda Sarsour said a fellow Muslum woman, Warsame, was brutally beaten by a white Christian man because of her religion? It was actually a Hispanic woman trying to stop Warsame from beating her child.
-Remember when a Jewish man took to the news in outrage after we woke up to find his house covered in swastikas? Well, he did that himself. And, it turns out, he might not even actually be Jewish.
The list goes on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on. It wouldn’t be a difficult feat continue this “hate crime” hoax list for pages (others have tried – and still not completed).
In fact, every time these hate crimes turn out to be real (and not perpetrated by the person reporting them) they are against Trump supporters. Like when US Veteran Thomas Roszkowski woke up to find his “Trump” sign gone and replaced by graffiti swastikas on his front door. That one actually happened. The list of actual violence against Trump supporters, patriotic Americans, and conservatives in this country is pretty much the only thing that does not keep being disproven as hoaxes. And it’s on the rise. Interestingly enough, those stories are being repressed.Instead, the left
Instead, the left keeps pushing these false stories as fact while ignoring the violence and mistreatment that conservative Americans experience regularly. This is witnessed by another statement released to the Star Tribune:
“Since the general election, many of us have experienced, witnessed firsthand or heard of actions of: racism, xenophobia, sexism and bigotry directed at people here and in cities across the United States,” Minneapolis Department of Civil Rights Director Velma Korbel wrote in a statement posted on the city’s website. “In no uncertain terms, hate-motivated speech and actions have no place in Minneapolis nor will they be tolerated.”
Luckily, we do still live in America. Just a few days ago the Supreme Court unanimously declared that “there is no ‘hate speech’ exception to the First Amendment.” They all understand that subjective ideas such as “hate speech” can lead a country down slippery slopes where they end up imposing fines on or even arresting comedians on no grounds other than speech they don’t like.
WND reached to Michele Bachmann, former congresswoman from Minnesota, who took a firm stance on the unconstitutional proposal from Minneapolis:
“Looking for government informants to rat out speech the government forbids goes to the heart of denying American citizens our inalienable rights. Governments CAN NOT do this under our constitution.”
“By installing Islamic anti-blasphemy hotlines and advertising for informants, Minneapolis is violating the doctrine of separation of church and state,” she added. “What difference is there between the Minneapolis City Council action and United Nations resolution 16/18 advanced by former Secretary Hillary Clinton?”
“Which is interesting, since the OIC continually proclaims death to the Jews, death to Israel,” she said. “The citizens of Minneapolis surely can’t be that easily bamboozled into giving away their First Amendment rights to free of speech.”
